The H3 was bought to replace my trusty Humax Freesat Recorder (fried through faulty workmanship of an historical aerial installation) and the FVP so that I am also able to watch recordings in my bedroom. I love the fact that it is possible to record 4 programmes and record a fifth - conflicts now a thing of the past! I have managed to get to grips with the H3 by playing around with it and it is pretty intuitive. I love the fact that I can play my recordings upstairs courtesy of my FVP but the reason I have given 4, rather than 5 stars is that inexplicably these are not always available and have to twiddle around for ages sometimes to get them - and when I do it is not obvious to me what the problem has been. In the fullness of time, perhaps all will be revealed on this count ... Generally speaking I am thrilled with my new purchase(s).

The H3 Would not work with the FVP in spite of exchanging the FVP. It's not robust enough to do what it's intended to do. It would intermittently connect and then eventually give up. The only thing that worked on the H3 was Netflix. The FVP was ok but not as user friendly as the previous Freeview recorder I'd had.
