The Opinel No. 07 Chestnuts, Garlic & Pitting Knife is used for cutting and peeling chestnuts, as well as peeling garlic or quickly removing stones and pits from fruit by making an incision. It is ideal when foraging for food and in nature's supermarket! Its small size means it fits easily into your pocket and its short, pointed and curved 4 cm blade is easier to handle than a long blade.

I haven't owned a pocket knife since my teens in the 1970s -- remember those days before the Nanny State when we the majority could be trusted to behave with a blade? -- but having just retired and moved out of London to the countryside, I felt the pull to get outdoors and do some foraging, hence the principle reason for this purchase. I'm old school. I chose Opinel for the way they remain true to their heritage and culture. This knife is a triumph of form follows function. It's not fancy. It's not complex. It's just wood and stainless steel. It is a quality object. It is terrific value for money. And it may well be the perfect pocket knife, not just a tool for chestnuts and garlic. It is brilliant at opening boxes and cutting string -- let's be honest, the classic EDC tasks. The short blade does not detract from it's usefulness. I'm not a Hunter, merely a Gatherer, and this knife is for me. Thank you HH for great customer service. My basket is already filled for my next order.
