The Tortoise Gear Firefly is tailor-made to replace the toothpick in a Victorinox Swiss Army knife (SAK) or tool. A perfect EDC fire starter, the Firefly is a firesteel, which will produce sparks when struck against the back of a knife.
This pack contains three regular Firefly – For medium and large sized Swiss Army knives with 50 mm (slanted top) toothpicks.
Glow in the dark top.
Custom sparking material twice as easy to spark as a typical firesteel / ferrocerium.
140% stronger than typical firesteel / ferrocerium.
Soft sparking steel, so it is less brittle and can be easily used with any sharp edged stainless tool on the Swiss Army Knife.
Comes in neon green-yellow glow and classic ivory glow.

“When I received these I tried to open the blister pack by pushing on the front to push the firefly's through the cardboard at the back. Don't do this! There was a crack as one of the strikers snapped in half. The instructions reveal that you need to only strike the thin sides to prevent the striker becoming loose in the housing as it wears away and you need to support it with a finger to prevent it snapping. I wish I had read that before I snapped mine! Sparks nicely and should be fine if you are careful.”

“Great firestarter, yeah it's super thin but it works just fine as long as you are careful and follow the instructions (strike along narrow side only - not along broad side, stabilize with index finger etc.)Out of the 3pack 1 came with the glow in the dark head already shattered, so maybe it was a transport damage, or the plastic is a bit brittle, but without the head you cant put it in a swiss army knife, or rather you could'nt retrieve it anymore, which beats the hole point of the thingStill I'm not going to send it back, 2 go in my swiss army knives as intended and the one without head just lives in one of my fire kits as a backup because the ferrocerium obviously still works”

“Tried this out on the Tortoise tinder. Lit first time using the spine of the saw blade. It fits my Camper, Huntsman and Swiss Champ. Will not fit a Rangergrip but I knew this already. A worthwhile back-up ferro rod.”
