This is Spyderco's famous UK Penknife (UKPK) with FRN handles and a drop point balde with a flat grind.
We want variety!" It's an often heard sentiment from knife customers and is why Spyderco offers several bestsellers with different handle options. Knife nuts wanting the lightest- weight folders available, gravitate to FRN or fiberglass reinforced nylon handles. Ultra- light FRN is warp resistant, shuns chemicals, and isn't affected by temperature extremes.
Spyderco's non-locking, one-hand open, clip carry folders are called SLIPITS. Starting in 2004, Spyderco launched a folding knife model called the UK Penknife, targeted for carry in the United Kingdom. As the SLIPIT concept gains momentum Spyderco keeps expanding the line with folders in varying sizes, steels and handles. Newly added are Lightweight SLIPITS.
Lightweight UK Penknife blades are held open by a notched-joint at the knife's pivot. When closing the blade the notch produces resistance functionally similar to traditional slip-joint penknives. Heightening control and comfort, Spyderco designers added a deep finger choil positioning the index finger on the bottom of the blade directly under the thumb. This lets you choke up near the cutting edge with comfort and dexterity. A tension-wire clip carries the folder deeply in a pocket, tip-up and ambidextrously.
This version has a CTS BD1N blade steel and black FRN handle.

For some years I have had the OKPK with the signature Spyderco leaf shaped knife and recently bought the Heinnie version with the drop point blade, which is very impressive.I recommend this design as it fits the hand well and works well.So worrying that I might misplace this collectors item I have bought this version and the separate titanium scales to customise this model. This now works in every way!

Having used the pocket knife for over a year now, I can confidently say it's been a reliable companion. Straight out of the box, it came razor-sharp and has retained its edge fairly well. I chose this as it is legal for carry in the UK. However, I don't always take it over my swiss army knife as it's appearance can be more intimidating. Nonetheless, its durability and cutting performance make it a solid choice for everyday carry.

Really nicely made, lightweight and ultra sharp. Also really like the drop point blade shape on the UKPK - highly recommend for a daily carry.

I've Previously purchased a Spyderco Urban Red Heinnie Edition and a Spyderco UKPK Cobalt Blue SPY27 both of which have had G10 scales and are really nice knives so this is my third Spyderco UK legal carry although my first drop point blade. I do like the UK Penknife (UKPK) I would like to have been able to get a Heinnie Haynes Spyderco UK Penknife G10 Drop Point but these have been sold out for some time. This version has a CTS BD1N drop point, flat ground blade, which I really like and came "out of the box" very sharp. I'm not however so impressed with the fibreglass reinforced nylon (FRN) scales, I know they're designed to be light weight but they just feel like cheap plastic too me. I have now purchased some Titech Heinnie Titanium handle scales for an additional £50, they make the knife look and feel a much higher quality, it does makes the knife slightly heavier, but I don't mind that. Finally, It also doesn't have the full-length back spring as found in my other two Spyderco knives. I know it's cheaper than my other Spyderco knives but not that much cheaper.

Very pleased with the purchase, my first Spyderco knife. Very well made, light and comfortable to hold with the very easy one handed opening. Have just brought some new carbon fibre scales from VP in Devon, not that there is any problem with the originals, just to customise my knife.

A nice knife for EDC . The usual Spyderco sharpness. An easy one hand open and positive blade position when opened. A keeper, enough blade length to grallock a deer if you forget your fixed blade! Pleased with my purchase.
