The Spyderco UK Penknife
with FRN handle, leaf-shaped blade and a flat grind is arguably the UK’s favourite selling pocket knife. Quite rightly so too! Made using CTS BD1N Stainless Steel with Spyderco’s Tradmark Round Hole system for simple ambidextrous opening, at the home of Spyderco in Golden Colorado. This already tells you that this is definitely a knife worth considering!
Because UK knife law does not allow for locking knives, the UKPK instead features a notch-joint at the knife’s pivot. This allows for the blade to feel secure in the open position but ultimately not lock it in place. This little knife also boasts a perfectly positioned deep finger choil and thumb ramp with jimping allowing for incredible control.
The handle is made from ultra-light FRN (Fibreglass reinforced nylon) which is warp-resistant, grippy and performs admirably in almost any environment.
In short the UKPK is a brilliant folding knife.

“After years of resisting the UKPK as an EDC I bought one. The blade as expected, was everything I would hope from Spyderco, the action is sharp and precise and I don’t feel the worry of accidental closing. The pocket clip is skeletonised which keeps the weight low, personally I prefer the more solid, deep carry clip which feels more secure. FRN handles look and feel a bit cheap so I ordered the titanium scales. 4 stars with the factory fitted scales, 5 stars with the titanium scales. An outstanding knife!”

“This knife has become my EDC overnight. The design with the finger notch and 90 degree intermediary opening position is a great feature and reduces the risk of the Blade closing on the fingers - it works well (yes I have deliberately tried). Sharp out the box and easily opened and closed single handed. My initial gripe was the scales seemed a bit too plastic for the cost. However functionality has made me forget all about this. I have had to change the side the pocket clip is default mounted; because, although I'm right handed, the spine of the blade was rubbing straight into the seem of my pocket with my preferred method of carry and the 90 degree spine has some sharpish edges of its own. I don't think it would have taken long to wear through the seem with use.Overall very pleased with the Spyderco offering, unfortunately I think I'm going to have to explore their range now.”

“Mechanism failed (snapped internally) so blade has no resistance after approx 2 years of light use. Knife was not exposed to any harsh conditions. Super sharp and great size.”

“Excellent design. I was lucky that my local gun shop ( Brighton) had this in stock so was able to handle it. Otherwise I'd have used HH.”

“Purchased the UKPK, unfortunately there was a fault ( replacement scales ), contacted Nick who sorted the problem immediately and professionally. The knife was returned to me within 48h with new scales attached. Cannot fault the knife & would wholeheartedly recommend dealing with Nick at HH.”

“Lovely little knife that I've wanted for a long time. As a lifelong nail biter I always struggle with nail nicks and grooves but the hole in the spyderco blade is a monumental game changer for me. Single handed opening with the thumb is effortless. Very happy with this purchase.”

“I was unsure about this knife, but using it I find the blade holds an edge pretty well, it is easy to strop back to a razors edge as well. It is useable one handed but you can only really do a slow thumb roll to open it. The knife is slim enough for pocket carry and the clip is very good, the knife is very lightweight though so I would not use it for more than moderate to light use.”
