Spyderco Roadie folding Knife Reviews

In essence, the Spyderco Roadie is a highly evolved penknife that is more practical and user friendly than its historical predecessors. Its most distinguishing characteristic—the “Double Dent”—is a pair of symmetrical dimples in the blade that provide a solid purchase for a fingernail-free two-handed opening. Far superior to a traditional nail nick, they also do not collect dirt or debris.
Unlike traditional penknives, the Roadie also features a subtle index-finger choil that increases control of the knife during use and acts as a safeguard against unintentional closure. These enhanced features elevate the Roadie far beyond the conventional penknife and set a new standard in socially friendly cutting tools. The business end of the Roadie is a sheepfoot-style blade ground from Böhler-Uddeholm N690Co steel, a high-performance stainless steel alloyed with cobalt, molybdenum, and vanadium. Its wide blade profile and full-flat grind create incredible edge geometry for a keen, scalpel-sharp edge. The broad blade also provides real estate for the distinctive “Double Dent” feature that allows the blade to be easily opened with a pinch grip of the thumb and index finger. Although not intended as an opening feature, a Trademark Round Hole in the blade proudly identifies the Roadie as a Spyderco product.
At the base of the blade near its juncture with the handle there is a subtle forefinger choil (finger groove). Placing your index finger on the choil provides excellent control of the edge and creates a natural “stop” to help prevent the knife from closing unintentionally. Both the choil and the opposing thumb ramp on the spine of the blade feature jimping (textured grooves) to promote a positive, non-slip grip.
Unlike a traditional slipjoint, the Roadie’s blade is held open by an improved notched-joint mechanism. Its spring also forms the handle’s full-length back spine, giving it structural strength and providing a foundation for the durable fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales. The injection-molded scales are contoured for comfort and feature a recessed Spyderco “bug” logo on both sides.
The Roadie represents a quantum leap in the evolution of modern pocketknife design and sets a new standard of excellence for the breed. We are confident that yours will serve you well.

As the title says, at first glance this seems a small knife, open it up and it fits a large hand. N690 steel and impeccable build quality as you would expect from Spyderco. UK legal, so implies with blade length law etc.

Arrived promptly next day . One tends to get blasé about this . I have ordered from Heinnie for a long time and can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times this hasn't been achieved. This is an interesting and lovely little knife which is razor sharp. I tend to skip over Spyderco quite often as the knives all look very similar. I like the opening indent a lot as I like to keep my nails for playing guitar. It works very well opening and closing smoothly with a not too firm half stop.Blade is nice and thick and tapers to a very sharp edgeI was surprised to find that it was so comfortable to hold despite its size .The grey version is very smart and is quite dark. It's good to have a choice of colors other just blackComes in a cardboard box easy to open as opposed to a fight me blister pack.Appears expensive for its size but is not considering the quality.Would look great in a collection or very handy to use . Light and unobtrusive to carry.

I've got to admit, I was a bit underwhelmed on opening the Roadie. But after a couple of days it's grown on me.The price does feel high for what you get initially. After living with it on my keys for a couple of weeks it's proved it's worth. It's kept it's edge very well from the box, it's extremely sharp. The scales feel nice too.

Really pleased with this knife. Small but well sized for general tasks. Pocketable, with a good slip joint that has some good spring retention so feels solid in your hand. Quickly became my daily carry.
