Rough Ryder Cotton Sampler Rams Horn Reviews

4 Rating 1 Reviews
Read Heinnie Haynes Reviews

Historically the cotton sampler knife was used by cotton buyers to judge the quality of cotton by rolling small pieces of material on the section before the blade. Still used in some areas of the States, Rough Rider produced this item as a collectors piece with historical significance. The blade is 440 stainless steel with "Ram's Horn" artwork engraved onto one side. The handle is, obviously, Ram's Horn, with nickle silver bolsters. The blade is non-locking and is under 7.6cm long making it a UK friendly carry knife.

“I've largely ignored the cotton sampler style because of the odd blade shape, but I really like the horn effect bone handle on this one, so for the price I thought I'd give it a go. The handle doesn't just look nice, it's good and large, over four inch long but with a UK legal blade, so you have a real good grip. There is some gapping on a liner, but it's not too dramatic for RR. The spring is nice and firm, and it has a satisfying clunk into the open and closed positions. There is a half stop. I don't think I'm a convert to the cotton sampler blade style, but it is a good looker and worth considering if you're after one.”
