Real Steel Heinnie® Atlantic Reviews

Read Heinnie Haynes Reviews

These Real Steel Heinnie® collaborations celebrate Heinnie Haynes' 25th birthday. There are four to collect, each one named after the location of the business at different periods in the Heinnie® story!
They are all UK legal carry, having a non-locking blade under three inches long. Simple in design yet highly effective in use they will be equally at home in a tough working environment sitting in your pocket or on your wall in a frame!
The Real Steel Atlantic brings the story bang up to date and refers to Heinnie's current HQ at the Atlantic Gate Estate in Barry, near Cardiff. This knife has a spear point blade and, like the others, features the Heinnie® 'H' cut out of the handle and engraved onto the blade. Each one has it's own individual number (sorry you can't choose which number you have!) and has a pocket clip and lanyard hole to accessorise as you wish.

For the price, a well-designed little blade, which feels reasonably robust and has a much nicer action than some other budget knives. It would be nice if it had a half stop for safety, but the back spring is quite strong and the blade is stable in use. The slightly snub nose makes it a little more annoying to aim for a pocket package opener than I would have liked, but that's a trade off and not the fault of the manufacture; it makes it look a little less threatening, which is probably good for a quite large blade (by UK EDC standards, which means it dwarfs a Bantam Alox despite being the same thickness and only slightly longer closed). It is what it is - it's not exotic steel and the grip isn't quite as comfortable as a larger knife especially if you need to pull on it. Hard to complain at the price, though. My biggest problem is the HH cutouts. I appreciate the branding exercise, but they're sharp edged and a shape that will catch on other things in a pocket (at least soft options that I don't want trashed, like a Nanobag). Had they been etched rather than cut through this would replace my Bantam in my fifth pocket. They don't make the handle uncomfortable, and if you kept it in a slip to avoid scratching or tearing anything else it wouldn't be an issue, but it's annoying for a "so thin you can EDC it with other items" design, hence my slightly harsh loss of a star.

I now own three of these excellent pocket knives, and I couldn't be more impressed. One is always in my pocket, with the other two forming essential parts of my various EDC kits. Their slim profile makes them perfect for discrete carry—easily sliding into a pocket or tucking neatly into the sleeve compartments of my Maxpedition pouches.Despite regular daily use, the blades stay impressively sharp. When they do need touching up, they're a breeze to resharpen, returning to a razor edge with minimal effort. The build quality is outstanding—solid, reliable, and designed with real attention to detail.Aesthetically, they hit the mark too. The Heinnie Haynes branding gives them a mark of credibility and quality that any knife enthusiast will appreciate. As always, Heinnie Haynes delivers fast, efficient, and professional service, with UK-legal carry and excellent packaging to match. In short, if you're after a dependable, good-looking, and practical UK-legal EDC knife, the Real Steel Heinnie® Atlantic is a top-tier choice.

I think of this as a 'real' EDC knife - it's so slim and light you can slip it into your pocket and just forget about it until you need it. The UK-friendly spec means that you can carry it without any worries about having to prove that you have a valid reason for doing so, and the deep-carry pocket clip is a) ambidextrous and b) very dscreet and inconspicuous. The blade is very sharp out of the box, easy to make even sharper, and large enough to be useful for a wide variety of everyday tasks. All this, plus the cool factor of being a Heinnie limited edition , at a bargain price! By the way, this blade is identical to the Boker Plus Atlas, though that has a number of different handle options.

Well, I got my knife today after ordering yesterday and it's light, sharp out of the box, cuts like razor. Smooth opening and no half stop but no danger for the fingers because it doesn't "snap" while you're closing the blade... Lovely and beautiful knife! Heinnie Haynes delivery fast as usual also. Love you guys!

Great xmas present, brilliant value for money. Like the spearpoint blade, beautifully sharp, light, solid, legal - what's not to like. Even more pleased than I thought I'd be. Recommended.

This is actually my second review of this knife. The first was back in January 2022 after I had bought it to replace a Boker Plus Atlas which I had lost. The Atlas turned up again, but I kept using the Atlantic because of the sharper blade. That is until I lost it too and this time it didn't turn up, so I bought a new one - that should tell you all you need to know!
