Real Steel G-Slip Compact Heinnie® Edition Titanium Folding Knife Reviews

4.6 Rating 9 Reviews
Read Heinnie Haynes Reviews

The Real Steel GSlip Compact is, as the name suggests, a compact version of the Real Steel G-Slip but made exclusively for Heinnie Haynes®. It is UK legal carry as it has no lock and has a blade under 7.6cm. This version has a "striped", textured Titanium handle giving this already impressive knife a luxurious and hi-tech feel.
Designed by Ostap Hel, the G-Slip is an extremely handy little folder and features a blade made from one of the best steels money can buy, VG10.
The substantial, sub-three-inch, non-locking blade has a great deal of resistance in the slip joint mechanism making it a superb choice for your UK-friendly, everyday carry, daily user knife.

I had been look at the G-Slip or another Luna when i got the E-mail for this. As I really like my Luna Stripe I thought a Textured Titanium G-Slip with a VG-10 blade was a no brainer. This knife has some advantages over the Luna. It has a stronger back spring and the texturing on the handle is better. It's clip isn't as good as the milled titanium one but does the job. The grooved scales provide a good grip making this very useable. In conclusion it is a fantastic looking knife the feels great in the hand.

What fantastic little life, great in the hand. The titanium is fantastic and the milling is beautiful for the price. I doubt you'll find a better knife

An excellent little knife with great fit and finish. I have a number of Real Steel knives and noticed that the groove was slightly shallower on this one, noticeable when opening at first, only an observation, not a criticism :)

I really like Real Steel knives, and I already have the larger G-Slip and the original red HH Compact. I really wanted to like this as it looks beautiful however the opening groove is cut so shallow that I can't open the knife. For me at least a fatal flaw and a great shame.

A sophisticated looking knife that is comfortable in the hand and a great exclusive. It is however quit difficult to open as the nail Knick is incredibly shallow!

Very elegant and comfortable to use design, with a secure grip, and made out of materials that are premium enough to justify the price (if not exotic). While lacking a safety finger grip at the choil, it has the Real Steel half-stop that's slightly more open than closed, making it unlikely to snap on a finger.But... As others have noted, it's ridiculously hard to open it, partly because of the strong back spring that keeps it secure when open. The finger groove is shallower than the Luna, but more importantly the rounded handle has high shoulders, lacking the chamfering (and further cut out) of the Luna - this makes it hard to get much of the finger tips on the blade. The groove stops relatively far from the blade tip, so there's not as much leverage against the spring as one needs with the limited grip.Putting a Luna thumb stud on the blade solves the problem (it's a bit of a pain to attach since it likes to rotate rather than sliding along the groove; keeping it oriented with pliers helps). It does make the whole knife thicker and ruins the sleek lines (and, since it doesn't get near the base of the blade, may get in the way of cutting), though. Even with this, the spring is strong enough that it's a two-hand open.A better solution for someone with better tools than I have might be to carve a Luna-like chunk out of the grip so fingers can grip the blade properly. As is, it's an unfortunate mix of aesthetics over usability. Which is a shame, because otherwise it's a lovely knife.

Excellent work yet again by Real Steel fit and finish is bang on and with it being a HH special edition what more could you ask for. The blade is dead Center with an equally impressive grind quality and the edge is ready to go! Do yourself a favour and get a Luna thumb stud which fits the Gslip and pop it on for a lovely smooth one handed opener ( the Luna thumb stud might seem a like it's not going to fit but either open it up a tiny bit or just push it with a bit of muscle and it will slide into place . Anyone that says it doesn't fit I will personally show you that it does) I can't be held responsible for the daisies that got no brains or strength in their hands. Plus if you don't believe me get in touch with Real Steel directly and let them slap it into your heads lol have a beautiful day people.
