QSP Penguin Slip Joint Folding Knife Reviews

The QSP Penguin has been one of the most popular folders of recent times. It is a powerfully built knife with a wide, sheepsfoot blade capable of a wide variety of tasks. In previous incarnations the blade locks into place but this new model has a non-locking slip joint mechanism. This means that as the blade is under three inches long and not locking it is OK to carry within the UK. Due to its exceptional manufacturing and very sturdy back spine the blade snaps into the open and closed position with reassuring crispness! Plus there is a half stop which will help to prevent accidental closure.
The handle is made from G10 with attractive red liner on the black option and black liner on the white version. There is also a choice of blue or OD green G10. Accessorise your one with a lanyard and add a detachable thumb stud if you wish to enable one handed opening.
Now you can carry your favourite knife for all your daily chores!

I was hoping for a UK legal penguin ever since been carrying the normal one from launch, this has not disapointed at all and with the half half choil feels really safe in hand. thank you HH for getting this little gem

Slightly bigger than the QSP Hedgehog with a flat grind, went for this as it has the finger choil cutout on the blade like Spyderco. The build quality is fantastic, back spring meeting blade when open is completely smooth, back spring and handle looks like one piece. Perfectly centred blade with a very robust open and close with half stop, I have no worries about this closing on me. This is heavier than my usual Spyderco UK knife but it feels so much more robust in the hand and its a steal at just under £50.

I'll keep this review brief, suffice to say that the build quality of the knife itself is very good, the example I had I returned as the blade edge was rather dull. Shame, this could have been a keeper.

Stunning knife for the price, beautiful blade shape, amazingly strong slip joint, can't wait for a copper or brass version.
