Bought one when it was SA made and a big chunk carbon steel, I use a 600 grit belt on finger sander to edge it and over time it become convex so makes it phenomenal at chopping. Still not an expensive knife so if you need a large chopper get one

It is neither a kukri nor a machete, still a very useful cross-over an an amalgam of those two. For the price you should not hesitate for too long and the steel quality is fine. So far I only used it once at wild camping, intentionally having left my small axe at home. Good product, recommended!

This is one piece of incredibly strong very useful kit. I have given this 5 stars simply because of how well it works and how much you get for your money!! Yes this isn't no beautiful work of art but is that what you're looking for in a piece that you're going to be using like it's free? Or something you shouldn't be babying. This piece is incredibly well made the handle is very effective at stopping shock from transferring to your hand, and the blade itself can take an incredibly amount of force even going onto the point of abuse and just take it where as others way more expensive makes fall to pieces. Trust me if you're looking for a piece that will do exactly what you're looking for then this one takes it in its stride . If you need further proof have a look on YouTube at Joe x and his review of this very piece. Happy shopping and remember always pay attention when using anything with a sharp edge.

I bought this as well as the Condor Heavy Duty Kukri, then spent two months living in the woods to compare them. Where I live (Hampshire) the Cold Steel is the better option. Perfect edge geometry for dead bracken for bedding, but also strong enough for shelter building with pine and birch. Weird because it looks like a cheap toy, but after living in the woods I prefer the Cold Steel to the Condor. Usual HH speedy service. Separately, if only they sold the SRK full size! It is one of the best bushcraft knives.
