CRKT Squid Compact Heinnie Haynes® Edition Reviews

4.3 Rating 9 Reviews
Read Heinnie Haynes Reviews

Our next Heinnie Limited Edition is here and it's a cracker! In it's previous incarnation the Lucas Burnley designed Squid was massively popular. A compact folder with a tactical feel and a solid, stainless construction, the frame locking Squid flew off the shelves.
Now with the Heinnie treatment, we've made a non-locking version, and it is going to be one of the most significant additions to your collection for years!
The Heinnie red handle is the most noticeable difference... this is your guarantee that it is okay, according to UK law, to carry the knife in your pocket or pack. Made from G10 the handle is tough and fills the hand, despite its size, with a pocket clip attached. The blade is crafted from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel and of course it doesn't lock thus falling into the UK carry category. A blade indent means there is slight resistence going from and to the open and closed position.
Whether for your collection or for using this is a superb little folder ready take on the world!

So I treated myself to this as it's CRKT a knife manufacturer I like and a Heinnie Haynes special to boot. Mine was razor sharp out of the box so I wonder from some of the other reviews if CRKT have QC issues? The comments about the blade not staying open are fair in my opinion, this knife would have been significantly improved with a decent Back Spring but that would increase the price. Personally when using the knife I keep my thumb on the Thumb Stud, to keep the blade open. A good small knife for UK legal EDC but watch the blade closing on your fingers.

I've revised my review after reading some of the other comments I think I've been unlucky in getting a bad one , I've reprofiled the blade and it is now very sharp and I've decided to try it in my edc rotation so far apart from the poor detent it is a nice little uk friendly knife , but if you use the knife correctly the weak detent hasn't been an issue .

Well built little knife. May be too small for someone with large hands but nevertheless it arrived sharp and it appears it will be an ideal edc. Bought as a gift, may well get one for myself.

I like this knife, mine arrived pretty sharp, the blade steel seems suited to the knife and feels pretty tough, it does feel a little bulky in the pocket and heavy in some trouser pockets, its sompact size does mean it is not comfortable for some uses, but overall it is a practical knife

A nice little knife, but any UK legal knife with no lock needs to inspire confidence in the way it clicks into place when opened. This one offers little resistance when opened and shuts far too easily. Being so short, the easy accidental close can quickly trap fingers that are so close to the pivot due to the diminutive size of the scales. I would like to have seen this have a far more positive click into position and a firmer close. For the money though, it's a nice knife and will fill another space amongst my Heinnie specials.

Small but perfectly formed, great on my keyring and easy to use one handed, for when you need a little sharp edge
