This is a stylish conversation starter and a unique addition to any everyday carry (EDC) collection. It benefits from a very solid stainless steel construction with a bolt-action open/close mechanism which is very much "unputdownable"!.
The body is CNC machined from a solid piece of stainless steel with a sleek and seamless appearance. The tip unscrews to replace the refill but the join is barely perceivable such is the quality of manufacture.
It is supplied with a Parker Style black ink cartridge.

“It's a heavy pen, which is useful, but well balanced, making writing easy. The external machining is immaculate - the join is almost invisible. On th downside the bolt action is very heavily sprung and therefore noisy which can cause annoyance in others (not for covert ops!). More problematically, the bolt action was a little grainy - fixed with a squirt of PTFE.”

“Received this fantastic pen today, after ordering it yesterday. Usual first-class service and a first-class pen too. I have looked at many reviews on all sorts of websites, not just here, of this stainless and also the brass and copper pen, both of which unfortunately Heinnie doesn't sell alongside this stainless version. (HINT, HINT). As an aside, several reviewers of the brass and copper pens say that if dropped on a hard surface, tip down, the end gets damaged and deformed. No **** Sherlock? Brass and especially copper are softer materials and of course they will suffer. This pen, being stainless should be a fair bit tougher, but it IS a pen and a VERY heavy one at that, so let's not be complaining if it's dropped and suffers any damage.It is superbly made and I cannot see a single problem or fault with it, but just make sure you realise you are looking at a VERY heavy pen, so if that's not for you, don't buy it. I love the weight of it, I really do, and find it good to write with, although maybe a solid hour or more might well show it to be not the best for that sort of endeavor.Some have said the bolt action makes their thumb sore... I don't have tough skin and can't say I thought that at all... It's quite addictive and very different from most retractable pens. Here and there the quality of the unbranded refill was said to be poor... well, the pen I received writes very well, I found. It's certainly not anything like under par. Speaking of refills, this pen takes the G2 Parker type refill and so alternatives of all sorts are easily available. It means that it will take the famous Fisher Space Pen refill that is sold with the G" Parker adapter. If you don't know, the Fisher ink cartridge writes on most surfaces including wet, oily, and greasy, underwater, upside down, and in a vacuum, should you be rich enough to get up that far. Unscrewing the tip to access the ink cartridge is almost magical, as the invisible join appears. You have to look VERY carefully to see it at all and would never see it if you didn't know where to look. It really is superbly made.If you want a very tough pen, buy it and maybe put a Fisher refill inside to make a first-class, if expensive, workshop pen.Just remember, it is very heavy, that's all.I think I'm going to go find the brass one to buy, mostly to look at. I don't actually need it, but y'know how it goes, don't you...”

“Simple, but effective mechanism. I ordered the stainless steel pen, which I feel is a bit hefty. Bomb proof, and should last. I changed the ink refill to a Schmidt roller ball type cartridge. If I was buying again, I would opt for the carbon fibre model.”

“All the glowing reviews are spot on - this is a superbly crafted pen which will last a lifetime. Ditch the ink it comes with and stick a Schmidt refill in there and it'll just glide! Great service from Heinie too - my first time using them - ordered the pen late Sunday evening, and it arrived Tuesday morning!”

“When the description said seamless, it meant it! As It took me a minute on first glance to work out where the seem was in order to take the pen apart, (as I use a specific colour ink at work) which I order in). Notably, the Bastion is a good robust and weighty pen , with a smooth action , (which my daughter likes to demonstrate repeatedly when she manages to get her hands on it.). I feel confident with its design and construction should I ever have to use it in a tactical situation. Overall I am very happy having invested in this product and feel it was excellent value for money with its price point.”
