BPS Knives are a family run business based in Ukraine. They produce an impressive range of bushcraft and hunting knives that are made to be used in the outdoors. There are no unnecessary embellishments or decorations just supremely sharp blades and hard wearing handles!
The BPS HK5 Bushcraft Carbon uses 1066 carbon steel honed to an incredible edge with a traditional Scandi grind. Formed and balanced to be an all-rounder for skinning, fire and food prep and more it has a generously sized handle with finger grooves that provide a seriously good grip even in the wet.
The handle is made up of two slabs of walnut wood screwed firmly to the tang with a lanyard hole to make the knife your own. It is supplied with a very high quality leather belt sheath.

Straight out of the box it's a nice blade with a good edge. The handle needed a little work. The scales were a little rough in some areas, mostly around the finger grooves. Soon sorted with some fine sand paper. The knife sheath is separate in the box. Well made with a decent thickness of leather. However, it has not been fitted to the knife. This means it is an extremely tight fit. Therefore, difficult to extract when the sheath is on your belt. You will need to cover the knife with clingfilm, soak the sheath, and mould the sheath around the knife yourself. Other than that. I really can't see how the knife and leather sheath can be sold for under £40. I would expect to pay that for the sheath alone. A really good knife at a give away price.

The bolts used for the handle are rough not sure what I will do about them. Cheap knife made cheaply.

An excellent knife for the money. With a full tang and made from good quality carbon steel; razor sharp straight out of the box! Obviously the finish is not quite as good as that found on knives costing £100+ but a good finish can be achieved with very little work. The quality of the sheath alone is very impressive - very well made and using good quality thick leather - one could easily pay £35+ for a sheath of this quality! In my opinion every bushcraft enthusiast should have one of these knives but maybe I'm being a little biased since my father was Ukrainian! ???:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*
