Read Heinnie Haynes Reviews

When it comes to all-around functionality, you can't beat the Benchmade Griptilian. The 550-S30V Griptilian is a plain sheepsfoot blade with a black nylon handle. The blade stands at 9.5cm in length and can be used for everyday, outdoor situations.

S30V stainless steel is one of the best money can buy for edge retention, rust resistant and all out functionality. And with the thumb cut out access to the blade is very quick and easy. Paired with the tough Nylon handle and AXIS lock it is easy to see how this knife became one fo the most sought after around the world.

I have owned the thumb-stud Griptilian for a few years and always wanted this model but it was never in-stock.The blade-shape of this piece is what makes it the best version of the Griptilian (in my opinion).Yes, the handles feel a little cheap but this doesn't detract from the piece for me, it is a classic.

I purchased the knife on recommendations: quality of knife steel, sharpness, mechanism, strength. What I overlooked was the quality of the scales. They feel so cheap & nasty. You'd get better ones on a poundshop knife. Very disappointing ?

This knife is great value for the money. I had the mini griptilian a while back and loved it but it was a touch small for me. I had been eyeing this up for probably close to a year and decided to pull the trigger I wish I hadn't waited. As someone who has never got along with spydercos due to not liking the way they position the locks this version felt like a good middleground. My only small gripe was the pivot was a little over tightened on arrival but took all of 30 seconds to back it off a bit and get it how I liked it. Now it's very flickable and drop shut so it's fidgety. Would be nice if benchmade did a version with metal scales as the plastic does let it down but there's loads of aftermarket scales so not a big issue. Overall I highly recommend this model.
