“My cat came out in sores so I had to take it off her. But my other cat was ok with the collar no sores”

Hi Gina. We’re very sorry to hear that your cat developed sores while wearing the collar, and we understand why you removed it. We have sold this product for many years and this is the first time we have heard anything like this. I have spoken to Biogance the manufacturers in France who have replied as follows: "Cats can react differently to a collar, and although the other cat tolerated it well, it is possible for an individual cat to develop skin irritation or sensitivity. Removing the collar was the right thing to do as soon as you noticed the sores. May we ask whether you had used any other products on your cat, such as a flea or tick treatment, spray, shampoo, spot-on treatment or other topical product, shortly before or while she was wearing the collar? We ask because these products can sometimes cause skin reactions, and we would like to better understand what may have caused the sores. This is the first report of this type that we have received for this product, which has been on the market for more than 10 years. “My cat is not averse to the non chemical smell of this flea collar. It’s not as aesthetically pleasing as his blue leather cat collar and address tag but this red flea collar does the job of deterring the fleas and is gentle on his skin so i will continue to provide this collar for him. Highly recommended.”

“I have mixed feelings about this collar. Four out of five cats are fine with it but my orange boy had such a violent reaction. He currently has a ring of fur missing around his neck and developed open, weeping sores everywhere the collar had touched. It was the same tightness as all the others, two fingers comfortably under the collar, but I guess he is just more sensitive to some ingredients than the others.”

“We live in a high tick area so they are always a problem. This spring, I noticed that my cat was getting a lot of ticks. After using the collar, that continued for a couple of weeks but now getting a lot less. So it took a while to work and it's not perfect - still the odd tick - but still prefer it to using harsh chemicals.”
