“On opening the package, I was delighted with the quality of the handle. It has a good finish and a positive return spring. However, fitting it took far longer than expected because: 1. It is fractionally smaller than the lock it replaced, meaning the edges needed to be repainted. 2. The screw holes are closer to the corners than the handle it replaced (or any other handle in my house) meaning new holes had to be drilled very close to the others. 3. The spring mechanism was wider than on the handle it replaced, so the recess on the door had to be extended. 4. The linking bar for the lock was longer than the linking bar for the handles, so it had to be shortened. Hence, a 15 minute job took over 2 hours excluding paint drying time. However, now that the job is finished, I'm pleased with the result.”
