Haircalma Rebalancing Shampoo Reviews

My hair is a mixture of wavy/curly hair and I have seborrheic dermatitis/dandruff. I have been trying this shampoo for some months and I have found that, although it doesn't create any foam, it does make my scalp feel clean and on the long run, it helps with my dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. This is a very good option for women that like to do the no poo/low poo method. I have also found that this shampoo doesn't decrease my volume at the roots, which is something that most low cleansing shampoos can lead to. I didn't see any difference on my texture, which means the shampoo removes build up from products very well. If you have curly/wavy hair I would definitely give this product a try, you might be very surprised

Followed all the instructions to use the shampoo (barring the conditioner as is not available yet) and the results were the complete opposite of what I was expecting. My scalp was a lot itchier and a lot more irritable than previously (and that was not very much!). I could not bring myself to use it again and had to cover my scalp in argan oil just to calm my scalp down before washing it the next morning with my normal shampoo it was that bad. A waste of £20 which I could have used towards my cost of living expenses.

Hello and thank you for review, we are sorry to hear the shampoo did not seem to help, however, in some circumstances the scalp may sting if your skin is broken. The shampoo is very gentle and so we would recommend to carry on using it for at least 7-10 days as this would allow the skin to repair itself. We are always happy to provide advice for our customers if they believe the product is not benefiting as in some cases the shampoo is only one part of a bigger picture for scalp health.

Haircalma shampoo is as described an unusual shampoo. I had great difficulties getting it into my hair and onto the scalp, and once in, it was very difficult to wash out. eventually what I had to do was add the shampoo to my scalp whilst the hair was dry and then wash it out with my regular shampoo. Having persevered I did find that it helped my scalp a lot. I had been suffering from soreness and itchiness both of which have calmed down.

Thank you so much for the positive review. We are thrilled to hear it has helped your scalp condition, and we very much appreciate your time for your honest appraisal. The shampoo is indeed different; A regular shampoo, by its formulation, limits the effect on the scalp by concentrating on the feel of the hair; we took a different path placing the scalp first in the formulation and forgoing some of the cosmetic feels to the hair. Haircalma is a low foam formulation (which can take some getting used to) with one of the gentlest detergents possible and so creates a dense cream that stays close to the scalp where the actives are needed whilst gently cleansing the hair. We can reassure you that with a quick rinse, the product leaves the hair straight away, leaving zero build-ups; you feel the hair is unstripped but cleansed. A good tip would be to use more than you usually do, Haircalma bottles are 400ml rather than 250ml, we made it a more significant size because we know people needed to use more! We would advise using roughly a third more product than you would do usually, or using a little on the hair and scalp in wash one, then a more significant amount in wash two, especially if using on long hair, the 2nd wash always lathers up better! Using another shampoo on the mid-lengths/ends of the hair is a good comprise, and as long as you are careful that the other product does not interfere with the scalp, you will still get the same great result from Haircalma. Thanks again Tha Hairmedic Team

Thanks for your review, we really appreciate any feedback. The shampoo is mild enough to use daily without issue, if you feel that 3 times a week is not getting the results you want. In the next few months we will be launching the Haircalma scalp moisturiser/conditioner which is an active conditioner to be used in conjunction with the shampoo, which would be beneficial for the more stubborn scalp issues.
