Frequently Asked Questions
What is cut-length heat shrink tubing?+
Cut-length heat shrink is supplied as pre-cut lengths (5m or shorter) rather than continuous reels - convenient for one-off jobs and smaller installations where a full reel would be excessive.
What does black heat shrink represent?+
Black represents the L2 phase under current UK BS 7671 wiring regulations.
What does 2:1 shrink ratio mean?+
A 2:1 ratio shrinks the tubing to half its original diameter, the standard ratio suitable for the majority of cable insulation and splice protection work.
How is heat shrink applied?+
Slide the tubing over the joint or conductor, then apply heat from a hot air gun or industrial heat tool. The tubing shrinks tightly around the conductor in seconds. A lighter can be used for small jobs but a heat gun gives the most consistent shrink.
