Our biodegradable ties are designed to break down in industrial composting conditions over a period of typically 6 to 12 months. Decomposition is significantly slower in normal disposal environments and requires the right combination of moisture, microbes and temperature.
What are biodegradable cable ties made of?+
These ties are manufactured from a bio-based polymer designed to break down through microbial action in compost conditions, rather than persisting like standard nylon. Strength and tensile properties are similar to standard nylon during normal use.

Yes — during their service life biodegradable ties have similar tensile strength to standard nylon ties. The biodegradation only occurs once the ties are exposed to compost conditions at end of life.
