“I've used this tool quite a lot now, and I am so far very impressed. It is a nicely balanced tool and does exactly what it is intended to do, which is to enable effortless shear-scraping. This is facilitated by the round back of the tool, which allows you immediately to scrape at any angle of 45 or above. Shear-scraping at a greater angle (say up to about 80 degrees) produces even better results than at 45. Used as a normal 22mm scraper, it will remove large quantities of timber with little effort, but can be a little difficult to control because you don't have the luxury of a flat back to support the cutting edge. However, I assume the tool is primarily intended for shear-scraping, not timber removal. My only slight niggle with the design is that it is very difficult to sharpen on a whetstone system, and you may find it easier to sharpen using a good old vice and diamond file(s), which is what I did in the end, and it certainly seems to hold its edge very well so far. Overall, I fully recommend it as an addition to anyone's toolset.”
