“One of the reasons I ordered these boots was because of the claim by the manufacturer that the boots would be comfortable to wear 'straight out of the box'. The first time I wore them for a short (3 mile) walk on the flat they were indeed fairly comfortable. The second time I wore them was quite a different story. The right hand boot was digging in to the top of my foot at the point where the boot flexes near the toe joints. I loosened the laces but the pain got worse. This was a relatively short walk of 2 miles, so I continued hoping things would improve. They didn't. I did not wear the boots for a week or so, but since then I have had a number of short walks and the issue seems to be getting better as time goes on. I examined the boot in close detail, the only thing I can see is that the bellows tongue does not appear to be sitting centrally as the left hand boot does. I have found that careful attention to this area when I am tying the laces, to ensure the tongue is pushed over to the centre, seems to help. I am hoping that over the coming weeks that the problem ceases as the boots 'wear in'”
“My previous experience has always been with soft fabric boots, these leather ones take a bit of getting used to as they are much stiffer. As a result, they are more supportive and better for rough terrain and mountain hikes. The high heel lift makes walking uphill easier, but also shifts your weight more onto your knees on the downhill, so this is something to be aware of. The waterproofing is excellent, I have taken them on three hikes on very boggy terrain in Wales and feet stayed bone dry. I like that the laces open so wide that you can get your feet in and out of the boots without having to yank them. I give 4 stars instead of five because, while wide fit, they do not have a genuine wide toe box; it still tapers at the front. My little toe feels a bit squashed and I’m unsure how comfortable they will be for very long or multi-day hikes. I wish boot manufacturers would make foot-shaped boots!”
“The peaklander walking boots are my go to for walking boots and i won't wear any other outdoor walking foot wear other than grisport. iv'e covered over 2000 miles on my current peaklander boots (ready for bin now) iv'e waterproofed them twice this year and they're still water tight but they are splitting on the upper right at the botton of lacing loops. I weigh between 18 to 19 stone so if i was 6 stone lighter or more i would have gotten more milage from them and because of my high weight the grip on certain parts of the sole have worn down wear to a smooth surface within 6 months but iv'e kept wearing them beceause they're so robust. i would'nt say they are the most comfortable for heaveir people but if you are under a certain weight then they would be comfortable and the price for these boots are incredible. i will be using grisport walking footwear for years to come as long they don't skimp out on robustness, quality and price.”
“This will be my 5th pair of Grisport boots, excellent for all weathers, more comfortable than any other make, and good value for money. I've tried other boots but none compare!”
