“The Extra wide fit Snowden was the best choice for me because I spend at least four months of the year in sandals and barefoot indoors the rest, therefore my feet are quite broad and need extra width. I tried going up a half size on a different boot manufacturer, but taking advice from Grisport customer services, I decided to try the new Snowden extra wide fit and really glad I did.
I broke them in by wearing around the house first, then when they’d softened a little , gave them a thorough waxing and commenced with 3 miles, 5 miles then 10 mile walks, and they have been the most comfortable boot Ive had on my feet for a long time. They really do fit like a glove, grip well, and feel great.
My only pause for thought is the fact that these boots have a shock absorbent layer incorporated within the vibram sole. I think it’s the obviously lighter coloured section of the sole.
Now I noted that in the specification before purchase, and because I tend to be on tarmac or tracks most of the time, as opposed to being on soft ground, I thought this would cushion the inevitable shock of my feet landing on hard ground each time. It does! I was quite surprised. In fact I have been amazed with these boots, but the only thing I’ve noticed is that there is a reduced lack of ‘feeling’ between the feet and ground, due to this shock absorption feature.
This is not a criticism, but in a similar way to how a famous TV car show describes cars, they sometimes mention the con’s first, and just when you think the car is no good, they introduce the pro’s and the whole review becomes positive. I’ve just done it the other way round. The Snowden is down and out the best boot I’ve bought for comfort, durability, grip and overall performance. I’ve no doubt at all that the shock absorbent layer is working very well, it just leaves me sometimes with a vagueness of the surface I’m walking on, that’s simply it, in a tiny nutshell, the only con from me!
