A compact, lightweight, well-made and (mostly) high quality first aid kit for a couple of people and 2 or 3 days on the trail. The roll-out format has some benefits such as allowing clear care instructions to be printed on its inside surface, but maybe could be better if there were a simple means of hanging the kit up when in use (such as a small grommet for a lanyard loop). However, because it's so tightly rolled the downside is little or no real flexibility to add further items to what is already there; a sleeve of painkiller tablets or a tube of salve (anything not flat basically) will just have to go somewhere else in your bag. Even replacing used contents may be a challenge. The kit includes a small pair of metal tweezers, but contrary to the diagrams (and indeed the image shown on the Ortovox website) which show proper shears the scissors are the most basic stamped steel type; they seem to work okay, but I wouldn't expect them to last long in use. The labelling of the various compartments' is confusing: not all contents are listed, and so while for example you might expect tweezers to be in with scissors, in fact they are (unlisted) in with the triangular bandage (which means that in practice a lot of stuff is harder to locate quickly than it should be. So, a decent kit, but one with trade-offs and limitations as well as room for practical improvement. This is the largest of the Roll Doc range, and I'd suggest that in many ways adding a further, more versatile one-up size might provide an even better product without too much compromise on weight and bulk.
