Because it is short it has less chopping power than other but on the plus side it is small and light weight and doesn’t take up valuable pack space.

“Bought purely for ‘camp craft’ trips and the like hence wanting the smaller hatchet. Great little item, easy to use for careful cutting but strong enough for slightly heavier work. Weighs next to nothing considering it’s intended use and takes up no room at all in a ‘ruck’.
