“Well the Strongarm is well known to be a tank of a knife. I wanted to see for myself what was the Magnacut Steel worth for myself. This is the cheapest Magnacut knife you can get at the moment, period.
The knife is stout and comes razor sharp. The sheath is very functional with unlimited ways to attach it pretty much anything you would like.
My main complaint is that the spine isn’t sharpen to a 90 degrees angle so there is no way to strike a ferro rod with this knife. That’s a crying shame and overlook from Gerber. Such a knife lends itself very well to a one knife survival tool and bushcrafting tool for longer hikes in nature. It can do it all - batoning shouldn’t be an issue at all, it can do feather sticks very well despite the thickness of the blade. If just they had sharpen that spine to 90 degrees angle… Guess I will have to do it myself and lose the warranty… ♂️”
“Ive not actually used this knife yet.....obviously its very sharp and the reviews ive seen have said the Magnacut option stayed sharp for longer when in use. The only downside Ive found is that the top edge is slightly rounded and so wouldnt work or create a spark from my striking rod, a few minutes work has improved this so all is looking good, definately a quality item.”
