My last fridge freezer was a Blomberg KGM9530P, which lasted me a long time. So, I decided to replace it with the KGM4524 model. It was also a convenient height for my available kitchen space. The new model is better designed, has a slightly greater capacity, and is more convenient. My issue — and the reason I knocked a star off — is that it came with no instructions to change the door swing to place the hinges on the other side. I couldn't find any helpful information online. Nonetheless, I proceeded with the task, as I have some DIY know-how and swapped the hinges of the previous model without hassle. The procedure was mostly straightforward, except that swapping the bottom hinge of the freezer door proved to be a nightmare. The hinge had a recess with a cross-head bolt that was difficult to access. Not everyone has a socket set, and I didn’t have a spanner of the correct width or one that could turn comfortably within the recess. I tried a selection of Phillips screwdrivers, but none fitted securely enough into the cross-head bolt to move it, as it was excessively tight. I had an adjustable spanner, but it wasn't really suitable for such a precise manoeuvre. However, it was all I had. I made constant, minute adjustments to squeeze it onto the nut at 180° and used another adjustable wrench, positioned onto it at 90°, to rotate it in a succession of small increments. I then followed the same procedure to attach the hinge on the opposite side. Most items nowadays come with Allen keys and other tools needed for assembly. I don't understand why Blomberg couldn’t have included a simple, specific tool that was necessary for the fitting, thereby avoiding the headache of a fiddly, arduous, and time-consuming job.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It is very much appreciated. We are sorry you have found your 'door change' so tedious. The door change instructions do not come 'in print', but they should certainly be available online with Blomberg. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Regards, The Snellings & Gerald Giles Team
