“Here are a few observations I've had about the Chronotimer:
1. The two pushers feel noticeably different.
Since the chronograph function requires two pushers, one for starting/stopping the timer and the other for resetting it, I was surprised to find that they don't feel the same in operation. The start/stop pusher is noticeably stiffer and requires more force to press than the reset pusher. I'm not sure whether this is an intentional design choice or simply a characteristic of my particular watch. Perhaps it's designed that way to make the act of starting a timing session feel a little more deliberate and purposeful. Maybe it's meant to match the excitement of timing a race!
2. The central orange seconds hand puzzled me at first.
After winding the watch and getting it running, I noticed that the orange central seconds hand doesn't move during normal operation. Instead, the small subdial on the left serves as the running seconds display. Once I understood how the chronograph works, that made sense. However, when the orange central hand is at rest, it doesn't appear to align perfectly with the 12 o'clock marker. It seems to sit ever so slightly off-centre. I admit I'm a bit particular about these things, so it's one of those details that I can't help noticing.
3. The manual could be more model-specific.
The watch manual feels like a comprehensive guide covering the entire collection, which is understandable from a publishing perspective. However, when I was first setting up the Chronotimer, I found myself a little confused about which sections were actually relevant to my watch. Like i tried a lot to unscrew the crown and waiting for it to jump out slightly but it just won't jump out. Also i dont know why the second hand doesn't work. My suggestion would be to provide separate manuals, or at least model-specific digital guides, for different watch families. In the age of AI, creating and maintaining tailored documentation is easier than ever. As it happens, I'm a software engineer myself, and if you'd ever like help designing a cleaner front-end experience for product documentation, I'd be more than happy to contribute.”
“This watch looks incredible. Perhaps I'm just the unlucky one who received a model that missed proper quality control? At first the watch seemed to work fine, but after using the stop-start pusher of the chronograph, the pusher would no longer engage and start the timer! (and no I didn't reset it while it was running). So, I coordinated with Geckota support to ship it back for repair. After the repair, the stop-start pusher worked as expected. However, after letting the chronograph run for a few minutes, I noticed the watch froze up. A reset allowed it to work normally again, but subsequent tests of letting the timer run for less than about ten minutes it would eventually bind up the watch mechanism. The big second timer and the small second hand stopped together, watch frozen. Sadly, I have to return this beauty. It's a shame, too, because it looks so cool. Researching this I read about others with similar experiences regarding the Seagull TY2901 (ST1901) movement locking up. I hope other buyers actually try out their chronograph timer before their return policy expires. Yikes!”
