“GardenStreet were very helpful when we first placed our order, as I selected the wrong product entirely. They cancelled/refunded the original order and we then ordered the correct one. However we ordered and paid for a bbq WITH COVER, and they mailed a few days later to say that the cover was not currently available so they could either send it later or refund. I chose Send Later, but really their website should not allow customers to order things that are not available - or this situation should be clear from the start to allow the right decision to be made. The highjinks really began a few days later when the box arrived... The bbq is well-designed and well-made, but let down by the delivery process. We received it packed in its own box, in turn inside a huge box (almost 1 metre by 1 metre by 1 metre). The outer box had obviously had a rough ride, so we opened it before signing-off the courier and the inner box looked OK. Big mistake, we should have opened the inner box too - this is the main thing we have learned the hard way from the whole experience because a few days later when we went to assemble the bbq (it comes flat-packed, with lots of nuts and bolts. Easy to put together, although a bit more detail would have been useful in the pictorial guide - it matters which way round some bits go, and this is not shown, maybe Danes are better at this sort of thing than Brits) we found that the grill rack was bent, one of the plastic clips that holds the wheels on was broken beyond use, and several of the metal parts and one of the wooden shelves had significant scratches from where other parts had hit them in transit. Just not acceptable. So after sending photos to GardenStreet they agreed to a refund and they sent a courier to collect at their expense. All well and good, but we had been without a bbq for a few weeks now, and a lot of fuss and bother. So we re-ordered from another supplier on next-day delivery (without cover, they seem to be universally unavailable) and it turned up on schedule and in good condition. We have assembled it and used it with no more problems so far.”
