Vine weevil nematodes will stop vine weevil from destroying the roots of your plants. These microscopic transparent worms (Heterorhabditis megidis) feed and multiply inside the larva. The nematodes seek out and kill vine weevil larvae.
Apply when the larvae are active in late Spring and early Autumn. High infestations may need two applications.
Apply to pots and open ground March to May and August to October. This is when the vine weevil larvae are present. If applying under cover the pests life cycle is broken and Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer can be applied at any time, as long as the soil is above 5ºC (40ºF). Apply directly to the soil around the roots which is where the larvae will be feeding.
Autumn use is the most effective as the larvae are younger and have not caused significant damage to plants at that time. Banding pots with Insect Barrier Glue will stop the adults from climbing into the pots.
The nematodes come complete with instructions and can be applied using a watering can or nematode applicator. You just apply to moist soil when the soil temperature is above 5ºC (41ºF).
Delivery is completely free when just ordering nematodes. Should you purchase any other items then our standard delivery charge will apply.
Please note Nematodes are live material and cannot be returned. They will usually have an expiry date of around 2 weeks. The effectiveness can sometimes vary due to external factors.

Vine weevil nematodes are good, but they never get rid of the vine weevils completely. I have to apply them twice a year to keep the vine weevils at bay!

Hi, Thanks for your message. Nematodes are a live product and will only last approximately up to 6 weeks after application, unfortunately one pack wouldn't be effective against a long term population of the pest, in which case we would recommend to apply a few times throughout the seasons to keep the pests at a controllable level. Please let us know if you have any questions. Kind regards Gardening Naturally

Every year I would lose plants to vine weevils, I feel more strongly against vine weevils than I do slugs. Since using the vine weevil nematodes, I have been able to grow strawberries in containers and I have not suffered the usual container plant losses since I started using them. Before, my only revenge was to sift out the nasty little grubs and put them on my bird table. The birds have now missed out on a tasty snack - sorry birds!
