“Very easy to use and effective. I like that it's easy to lift the lid to check progress. Other traps I've tried make this hard work and risk spilling stale beer/slug mixture on myself. From experimentation I've found that the beer you use is important. Unfortunately the slugs and snails seem to have expensive taste. Cheap larger just won't cut it. You need something yeasty and 'chewy' like Guinness, stout or pale ale. Sometimes the bigger slugs and snails just come for a drink and hide out at the party for a while before slithering off to eat my delphiniums though, so it's worth checking the traps regularly and getting rid of, or forcibly drowning any that are just there for the free beer. I find they often use it as a dark place to hide during the day too (either under the lid or even under the base) so again, it's like a collection point for slugs and snails, even if they don't go the whole way and finish themselves off. On the downside they are DISGUSTING to clean out. A mix of week old rank beer and putifying slug. Nice. I spray it all down an open drain with a hose from as far away as possible.”
