“We have some problems with slugs and snails in the garden where dahlias and hostas have particularly been at risk. I've used Nemaslug nematodes for managing the slug problem in the garden for the past 2 years. Last year they appeared to work well, but it's difficult to be sure because you only get an impressionistic view that there's been a decline in slug activity as there are no dead slugs visible. So this year I tried an experiment. Before applying the nematodes I set several shallow containers with beer in and monitored the nightly haul of dead slugs attracted by and drowing in the beer. What I can definitely say is that several days after applying the nematodes there was a sharp drop-off in gastropods. In fact although the odd snail or 2 would appear, there were no slugs. So I conclude that the nematodes were really doing their job.”

“I have been using Nemaslug regularly for years. This last delivery was different. The product had gone dark brown and really consolidated. It was impossibly to break it up and dissolve it properly, so did not get the usual area coverage.”

Hi, I am very sorry to see this. Nematodes are a live product so the consistency can vary, and we would say if they are clumpier, that the nematodes are more concentrated. These may need heavier stirring and we would advise that if they have gone off they would have an incredibly off-putting smell as opposed to their natural earthy smell. “I've used Nermatodes before, very successfully, to significantly reduce slugs in my garden. This year they were out of stock and i managed to trace them at Gardening Narurally, where i had to place an advance order (3 weeks waiting). The Nematodes were dispatched on promised date and arrived by Royal mail on the date promised. They are a good natural way to slowly rid your garden of slugs. Have to apply every 6 weeks, and over one of two seasons/years.”

“I was a bit dubious about how effective nematodes would be but I'm now converted. They're not cheap but the result has been amazing. We live in a damp area (Dartmoor) so slugs are usually a real pain, but since we have started using nematodes the problem is disappearing.”
