We can see the barley straw bag was purchased just 7 days ago. As it works naturally, it typically takes several weeks to begin breaking down and releasing the compounds that help inhibit algae growth, so it's still very early in the process. “I've had to clear out my wildlife pond as the liner had a leak and hope I managed to put back enough plants to keep the oxygen levels right. But i know from experience that barley straw does a good job in getting rid of algae”
