“I cannot see any reduction in ant activity as yet. It was a very hot day on 19th of June when the postman delivered at around 1-1:30pm - I met him in the doorway - and was immediately concerned as the package was noticeably warm to touch! I placed the package straight in the fridge. We waited till about 9pm before applying the nematodes that evening, following the instructions very carefully. I am watering the treated areas to keep them moist at all times, but I am worried that the heat in the postman's van had killed the nematodes en route. I have used your nematodes in the past for other pests and have had great success - with vine weevils especially! I would appreciate your advice, please? I didnt really want to answer the two questions above - but had to, so that I could send it.”

Hi, I am very sorry to see this. We will ship nematode orders during warmer seasons, the service we use is a Royal mail tracked 24 service which is prioritised, and delivery is usually 1-2 days. Nematodes are usually fine in transit for up to 4 days and we would advise that they are refrigerated and used before the expiry for the best results. Extremes in temperature, dryness, or unfavorable pH can reduce their viability and effectiveness. When applying nematodes you need to use plenty of water ensuring they are spread evenly and fully absorbed ensuring they reach lower depths to reach the pests effectively. Pests can develop a resistance to nematode infection and the overall effectiveness of the control, however, if this is the case we recommend applying another dose to increase the volume of nematodes to overcome the resistance. “This solution 'worked a treat' in ridding ants nest which were 'eating' the foundations of my conservatory (over a few years). My friend used it too as his greenhouse base had been destroyed over several years of ants nests and 'digestion' of the base.”
