These have been my favourite chocolate ever since I discovered Belgium chocolates back in the 80s, when I worked in a confectionery dept. Still as luxurious and exquisite today. Not many chocolates contain the bitter sweetness of cocoa, with the sharp zest of brandy and the succulent cherry encased. A chocolate not to bitten into. Packaged with care as are delicate, so always arrive perfectly.

These are the best cherry liqueur chocolates I’ve ever tasted. And I’ve tried a few over the years.

The chocolate is fine but the liquer used is very harsh with an unpleasant aftertaste and bite. Not at all the same quality of liquer as used in the lovely cerissettes previously available from Godiva and still available from Duva. The appearance is very similar but the Friars chocolate cherries look a little less regular and more handmade. Overall the Friars products is very inferior, tastes unpleasant and I won’t be buying again. They did say I could return the unopened pack but i couldn’t face another lockdown trip to the post office so they were binned. Incidentally there are 3 adults in our household all very fond of chocolate while cherries with liquer and all unanimous that these were unpleasant tasting due to cheap / inferior liquer.
