Organic Black Quinoa makes vibrant side salads.
Organic Black Quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) has a nutty texture and is similar to organic red quinoa in texture so makes for vibrant salads and side dishes.  Organic black quinoa is a source of protein so is a popular choice with vegans and vegetarians.  It contains all the essential amino acids needed for human nutrition.

This variety can take a little longer to cook than organic white quinoa and organic red quinoa and holds its shape more so goes particularly well in salads or mixed grain dishes.

Quinoa is a ‘pseudo-grain’ which means that although we use it as a grain it is actually a seed.   This means it is higher in nutrients and protein than most grains.  Quinoa is high in Manganese and a source of Folate, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Copper (per 120g serving).

Our quinoa hails from Peru and is grown in the Andean Mountains where it has been a staple food for thousands of years. It works well in a wide range of sweet and savoury recipes.

You may also like to try our organic tricolor quinoa, organic red quinoa or organic white quinoa.

I tried mixing Quinoa with my daily oats last year (2024) and found they added they taste and texture I was seeking. I read online that the black Quinoa seed has a far better nutritional profile than both the white and red, which is why I select this particular colour. Despite the black seeds being more expensive, they do provide more nutriants, which, for me, outwheighs the extra cost. It must be a painstaking job, to seperate the white, red, and black Quinoa seeds, but one I am grateful for.

I just love this. It's really nutty and tasty. Served with a variety of brightly coloured veggies the contrast with this black quinoa makes an amazingly attractive meal.

Everywhere sells white quinoa, but not many places sell the black and red varieties. I much prefer the black variety, because of the slightly better nutritional values, along with it being more resiliient when cooking. All on all, this is excellent quality and exactly what I was looking for.
