Having had the opportunity to fly the Phi BEAT under the flybubble Match Service here is my feedback on the wing. Firstly I have been flying low B wings (Ozone Z5 and BGD Epic) so this is the benchmark to compare from. The Beat I flew was the lightweight version and I was right at the top of the weight range on it as this is where I prefer to fly. I am not a fan of lightweight kit so will not go into that side of things as it would not be an unbiased opinion, I think you either like or dislike the pros and cons that come with lightweight equipment. Overview, a fantastic all-round wing, if you want a wing that can do it all then seriously consider this wing and take it for a test flight. Excellent launch characteristics that will launch with very little persuasion on the A lines and come up smoothly. In flight the turn is precise and responsive as is the brake travel, I tested this wing in fairly turbulent conditions and found this wing cut through the air far better than what I have been used to, very good on speed bar and big ears. This is a well sorted all round wing. The stand out surprise for me with this wing was the climb in lift, very well-behaved and had a rapid climb rate. I did not get to test this in a thermal but guess it would perform the same. Landing in blustery conditions was also straight forward with a very good flare to stall. Would i buy this wing? Absolutely YES Did I buy this wing ? well No I did not as I was testing this against the Phi Maestro 2 and that is also another hard act to follow My reason for not going with the Beat is that I have other wings to fly and was not looking for a good all-round wing but a dedicated XC wing. The Maestro 2 requires more active flying. If you are looking for your next wing in the Mid B range with great flying characteristics then I would say you can not go wrong with the Beat, test other wings, get on the flybubble Match service but definitely include this one in your list of wings to fly, you will not be disappointed and it looks damn good in the air !!

I purchased this mid B wing following advice given during the Flybubble match service. It is the perfect blend of performance and confidence inspiring stability that I was looking for, I fly only about 30 hours a year but want to go XC when I do fly, the last 4 flights have been in Southern England and include an out and return of 18Km, a 63km and 44km XC, the limiting factor on each occasion was not the wing. I have had it fitted with the optional B/C riser steering system which is excellent on bar on glides, It is stable in pitch and therefore low on workload, but not so dampened that energy cannot be built up. It has given me the ability and confidence to head off on my own. The various other Beat owners that I have met on the hill are equally impressed.
