I'm basing this on our visit to Orlando 26.6.15 to 8.7.15. Party consisted 5 adults. Both Universal parks (Studios & IOA) have better thrill rides than the ridiculously expensive Disney Parks. Don't get me wrong, Disney "magic" is good if you have young kids but for my grown up kids they're all Disneyed out. You can do both Universal parks in about 3 days; if you get there in time for the parks opening at 8 am. The big 2 Harry Potter rides in both Studios and IOA are first class as are Minions, Transformers, Spiderman, The Simpsons and the coasters Hulk, The Mummy & Rock It. Reduce waiting times by getting there early and using "single rider" option where you can. I can't understand why people would choose to queue for 60 - 75 minutes to get on a ride when you can get on as a "single rider" in 10 - 15 minutes. We all went on the most popular rides inc. both HP's and the longest we had to wait was around 20 minutes but this was a day when we arrived after 9 am so our own fault really. Most days we went on the rides and then went straight back on again with minimal queuing as "single riders". I really can't emphasise this enough : arrive at opening and go as single rider. You will be able to get on all the big rides (twice in some instances) and then leave the latecomers to queue in the scorching heat! Parks get really busy from around half past nine through to 5 or 6 pm, sometimes later (there's no logic to it, it's just your luck). Parking your car costs $17 for a day but if you go after 6 pm, it's only $5 but the parks can still be busy and you may not get to do all you want before the parks close at 9 pm. My favourites in no particular order were HP Forbidden Journey in (IOA), The Simpsons (Studios), Transformers (Studios), Hulk (IOA) HP Escape from Gringotts (Studios) and Rock-It (Studios). Spiderman, Jurassic Park, Men in Black and Popeye are still great and other than "Twister" there's no real disappointments in either park. Make sure you invest in ponchos before you get to the park ($5 in Walmart / Publix / Target et al) as they don't take up much room but are a godsend when it inevitably rains in the afternoon. Brilliant parks and much better value for money than Disney who from a purely thrill ride perspective, don't come close. If you want to up the ante a bit more, the Coasters at Busch Gardens beat both Universal and Disney hands down. Queues are much shorter too. Whatever park(s) you choose to go to, get your tickets before you travel as there are very few ticket deals available when you get there and it will mean you pay more than necessary and reduce your available spend capacity in the outlets!
