The product has a low sheen only, on a flat matt grey porcelain we would only expect it to be as such. This product will not create a gloss finish. It is intended to seal the surface in a thin micro coating which produces a simple low sheen only. It is not physically possible to create a true matt finish on porcelain with a topical/surface sealer. The sealer creates a surface film so will always be visible, therefore it is described as creating a sheen. There is always a slightly altered appearance to the tile after application. It will vary though based on the surface colour, texture & possibly the angle which the tile is viewed from.

The method of application is perfect for a micro coating where you will have preserved the slip resistance of the tile. The reason a cheaper alternative is available is because - a) it will have virtually no longevity on porcelain due to it being for a porous tile which porcelain is not b) it will be a thicker coating which then delaminates as it cannot bond to the tile. General surafce sealers may acheive a gloss but do this by being a thicker gloopy coating not suitable for porcelain. This as noted leads to failure, whitening and also lack of slip resistance.
