“I wanted to like these as hornbeam pieces are relatively rare, and I particularly like the gnarled grain of the wood. However the quality control was very inconsistent, and although some pieces were very nice with no issues at all, a couple had weights that poked out the bottom and made the pieces wobble on the board. A few other pieces had some small visual defects, and the presentation case was also rather tatty. Maybe I just got a bad batch - if all the pieces were like the good ones I'd have been very happy, although ultimately I decided on a refund rather than a replacement. Farrar and Tannar were excellent about returning the pieces, and the process couldn't have been any easier. I called the helpline on Friday, the Postman collected them the next day, and I was refunded by the end of the next week. Thank you!”
