“From the beginning I was looking for a chess set that was closer to being a piece of furniture than a toy. There are many chess sets available but they tend to be constructed of cheap materials that are best left out of sight when not in use. Having owned several of these sets, I often found that when the opportunity to play a game did arise, my hardware was unattractive visually and could even be 'missing' a piece or two. My solution, rightly or wrongly, was to seek out a set that could be left on view and be a centre of attraction in its own right. Enter Farrar and Tanner. I was definitely in a quality environment, limited only by what money I could justify on my personal whim! The range was, and still is, extensive and quite exciting. I researched other options but kept returning to one set at Farrar and Tanner's that I was using as a reference point. I bought that set with its storage medium. It arrived quickly and I was truly satisfied with my choice. Well made, excellent storage and board and above all, very pleasant on the eye. No regrets. No issues. Full satisfaction.”
