I’m an enthusiastic diy’er (slelving, cupboards fencing repairs etc, and have recently bought the Evolution 1b rage circular saw, having for years struggled with hand saws. My first impression is the one of amazement as to the simplicity of use. The ability to cut wood and metals speedily with clear straight edges, has led me to ask why I haven’t bought one before. If you follow the safety instructions and set up the workareas correctly then it is easy to use, and convinced me that it is the best tool in my collection.

I expected problems because I'm left handed but the saw is well balanced and has not caused an issue. Perhaps this is because I have never used one before so didn't know what to expect. Have managed with a jig saw all my life and now my cuts and accurateness have gone up several levels to the degree where I am speechless by the results. This machine is amazing value, it really does feel like a professional quality saw, though once again I've never used one! The bevel set at 0' or is that 90'? there is a slight over step, it's easily adjusted back to give a straight cut. The cut is superb, far greater than I had hoped for. I understand it will cut 6mm metal, but there's no free lunch, something has to give, how long for? I'm not going to use it on metal, prefer to keep the blade good for wood. The safety switch is a real pain to the point where it might be a safety issue trying to over come it. Have just made a hexagonal roofed Dove cote and the bevels/mitres (did my head in working out the angles). 720' inside angles of hexagon divided by 6 = 120! so ended up setting saw at 30' and perfection, i dunno why? but the finish is incredible! made one in the past with just a jig saw and it wasn't pretty. Thoroughly recommended, wish I bought it years ago.

Needed a saw to rip lengths of 2 x 4 but didn't want to spend to much. Plastic adjusting screws should be fine if correct amount of pressure applied. Went through slightly damp wood like butter so I am satisfied with this saw thus far.

Positives- Used today on a reclaimed wood project, cut through hidden nails without issue, even managed to cut through a rusty bolt that refused to budge...and it still cuts clean and effortlessly Negatives- Could do with a longer lead

I have only used this saw once. I had to cut an inch from the bottom of a front door which had rusted screws embedded. It sailed through cleanly, screws and all, brilliant.

I bought this primarily for cutting up off cuts for burning in my stoves. I have used it several times and, considering the cost, I am very pleased with it. The blade is good and I don't have to worry about the odd nail. It cuts well and seems to be fairly accurate. However, if I want an really accurate cut, I wouldn't reach for a circular saw first. So far as build quality is concerned, I can't really fault it for this price. In use it doesn't vibrate too much and is not too heavy. All things considered, the saw does everything I want it to do - at a good price.

Great piece of kit, replaced an old Black and Decker which never was that accurate and always had trouble with the guard sticking. Not on this one though, very smooth action and easy to adjust the angles and depth. A tad heavier than my old one, but that's a very small criticism against all the benefits. I would highly recommend for the serious DIY enthusiast.
