Whilst engaged upon a DIY project and needing to make some mitre cuts in timber I asked a carpenter friend for some advice as to a decent but ‘cheap’ purchase. He recommended Evolution, but expressed some concern about the small number of teeth in the cutting blade. He advised that ideally, for a neat cut, I should look for a wheel with 48 teeth. I looked around at alternatives but eventually decided upon this model with the versatile blade. I have not been disappointed with either precision or neatness of cut. My only error was, whilst on the mitre setting, I cut through the adjustable fence and it will cost me more than £10.00 to replace it - even though it is such a small part. I hope this review is helpful

Advised to check settings out of the box, and found all settings okay except that fence needed a few mm adjustment - always remember to check blade first before fence. First impressions are that this is a torquey little number, so make sure it is well clamped down before use. I made a 18mm ply baseboard which can be clamped anywhere, and this makes the saw very portable. (They advise a rather large baseboard, but I found this size too big and awkward; make one you will find easy to clamp, and easy to carry and store). It is powerful enough to cut hardwood without problems, but don't forget to allow for the fairly wide kerf. An ideal saw for the handyman who has some work outside as well as inside, and light enough for an old guy like me to carry about easily. The small size of this saw makes it very handy, even the O/H made no objections! Can't make any comments about reliability yet after only a couple of weeks' use, but it seems strong enough, and with a 3-year warranty it is looking good.
