“This is an excellent freestyle paddle. It’s reassuringly solid 1-piece construction avoids trying to be too light (1006g) and instead feels stiff, durable and unlikely to break, something we have had problems with in the past with another brand which shall remain undeservedly nameless. In particular, this design has a powerful and immediate ‘bite’, which comes both from the sheer size of the paddle area (719cm2) and the down-turned design. You DO need to be strong to make the most of this, but if you are then astonishing things can happen breath-takingly quickly. The paddle isn’t super expensive, either. Downsides? Blade flexure can be felt on the back stroke, which isn’t as instantly responsive as a result. The blades are glass, so they will wear down under the kind of multiple impacts they will suffer at Lee Valley, for instance. The shaft is a touch too smooth and can slip sometimes, but this is a small thing easily remedied with some wax. Recommended after a much more expensive paddle failed us for the second time.”
