“Red Paddle Co has a reputation and thrives off that. This comes as a quality product, efficiently designed, produced from good quality materials and well packaged. There are options around paddles but the carbon 100 paddle just feels more balanced and less chunky than nylon paddles. Yes, I dare say that there's more likleihood of wear and tear on a carbon paddle but I suppose also it's about looking after your kit so it looks after you. There is a the question of whether it's worth paying the extra and for that I wouldn't even begin to make judgment calls on behalf of others. Certainly the sturdiness, quality and structure feels better. I personally felt that lighter boards which made their volume from height out of the water seemed to wallow a little more and gave the impression of being on top of something on top of the water. With this board it feels more as if you are on the water and less likely to roll. The board shape, stiffening battens, central fin and higher pressure seem to give a good glide to the board and the fin tracks well (although my own poor paddling technique counters this as I zig-zag my way along!!) The overall package was efficeintly delivered and arrived swiflty. For me it was 'that board' that I had looked for, and looked forward to trying out. It's not the cheapest but there's an old adage of buy cheap, buy twice and hopefully the quality of the product will gve it a good lifespan. Good for touring, given size of board with plenty of fixing poiints, and good for beginners due to width being similar to starter boards, allowing for more confidence while you develop your balance. Not sure if Red are going to redesing for 2022 but I'm more than happy with the 2021 version”
