“This is the third thermostat. The other two lasted about two years each and then partially failed.”

“I keep having to replace these as they get impossibly stiff to turn. Even when new they are quite hard to turn for someone who is not very strong. It would help if there was a good way of fully dismantling the item for cleaning. Simply soaking in vinegar as recommended does not achieve this. Another problem I have found is that, even when new, the unit does not respond quickly to changes in temperature setting.”
