I swear by Hager purely because of the build quality and the design inside the board. Hager is always trying to innovate their boards for the benefit of the installer and it shows with this board. The round knockouts make life so much easier when using 20mm or 30mm glands. The accessories are the excellent quality you'd expect from Hager and it was a joy to work on. One thing they've got wrong however is the SPD design. I spoke to Hager direct and explained there was a red tinge in the SPD 'windows' which indicates there's an issue. After explaining to them that I'd fitted the CCU and the windows were indeed showing a tinge of red, Hager explained that this is an issue they're aware of. They went on to explain that when the SPD has failed, the red in the windows is more pronounced and has an error message on it, whereas mine is just offset at the back of the SPD device, hence it being absolutely fine. So food for thought if you're fitting one. Hager does know about the confusion caused, and they're making sure it's corrected.

Poor manufacturing quality and a major design flaw. Firstly the manufacturing faults - knockouts are ridiculously hard to remove (you won't be able to knock them out once it's mounted without destroying the board secondly the lip of the lid is so poorly made it has a sharp exposed edge that damages the board face every time it's used so it was already marked when i got it but too late to return as i was committed by then. The design fault is this - The brackets that hold the din rail are not welded or riveted but pressed into place. As i removed the din rail to make the board up (crappy self tapped screws not threaded) one of the brackets FELL OFF?!!. I kid you not. I had to spend 2 extra hours drilling and pot rivetting the brackets in place as they are not fit for purpose. The din rail takes a lot of different shearing forces during the connection process with 25mm tails, 10mm's etc and tightening up terminals on RCBO's and especially the main switch. I would have returned this board but as any electrician knows once you've started a job like this it's too late by then. I am an industrial and commercial 'time served' installation electrician with 40 years in the game and have done thousands of different boards and although i know this is a domestic board there is no excuse for this design shortcut. I'm surprised at Hagar, they used to be one of the best brands for domestic boards but this is a low point for them. I hope the breakers aren't as shoddily designed and built Also this wasn't the cheapest out there but after the 3 man-hours i spend rectifying their design (took an hour to find my pot rivet gun in the garage) it must be about the most expensive. I normally fit Eaton units but i thought i'd give Hager a chance but they let themselves down. They had their chance but now it's back to MEM who know how to make din rails that don't come off. P.S. Imagine if the din rail bracket had failed after i'd fitted it. It would have to all come out again. It's just lucky i know what i'm doing.I thought Hagar did, i was wrong. Never again. Disappointing. AVOID.
