Read Drink Finder Reviews

The Hinch 18 is a very rare release with only 650 bottles produced. This rare 18 year old Irish single malt whiskey has been finished in Bordeaux wine casks from Chateau de la Ligne Grande Reserve. The first 18 years of this whiskey have been spent maturing in Kentucky bourbon barrels and then finished for 6 months in the Grande Reserve wine casks. Due to the importance of the influence of the wine casks there is a bottle of this fine Bordeaux wine for you to enjoy and explore too.The Whiskey:Aromas are of red summer berries, plums and abundance of apples with a touch of liquorice. The palate has notes of toffee, caramel and dark cocoa that are elevated by the back bone of sweet vanilla and freshly toasted oak. There is a clear influence of the wine cask finish with further notes of red apple, plum and summer berries - this is sumptuous and moreish. The Wine:This has an aromatic bouquet of fleshy red fruits with exotic notes of vanilla and sweet spices. The show on the palate is frank and full with coated tannins which reveal notes of tobacco. It is very well balanced and has a long intense finish.

Stunning packaging and presentation, superb idea to pair a bottle of the wine from the casks the whisky was finished in, should be done more. Adds a whole new level of interest and comparison in tasting sessions. Highly recommended and will follow Hinch.
