Excellent wine made by the talented Rodolfo Bastida of Bodegas Ramon Bilbao in Haro, Rioja Alta. The Charge has been made from a blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha grapes sourced from four different vineyard blocks. After blending the wine spends 9 months in French and American oak barrels. It has a lovely warming nose of vanilla spice, dark berries with a touch of cacao. The palate is generous with dark forest fruits and spicy notes balanced by good acidity and toasty oak vanilla. A lovely wine which is very versatile to drink on its own or with barbeques meats, roast or heartier stews.
