No. 209 Gin takes its name from the License number it was given, 209 was the number of the license granted to it by the in the United States. Distilled five times and it has been matured in a oak barrel which previously held Chardonnay Wine for 119 days. The nose gives warm buttery notes with a hint of oak. Initially sweet then more typical gin notes of juniper and citrus develop before a slight tannic tang on the finish.

This is one of my wife's favourite gins and is quite hard to get hold of! Recommended to be drunk neat over ice, the gin's taste is exactly what you would think of when you add a gin to an old chardonnay oak barrel. Slightly sweet and fruity with hints of oak and butterscotch, we always try to have a bottle in the drinks cupboard!

As a huge 'Gin Head', I have tried well over 80 Gins with various combinations of tonics and I would rate this well in the top 10. Before I explain, I must add, I am also a huge Chablis wine fan..........made with Chardonnay grapes and thats what the gin has aged in, old oak Chardonnay barrels. I always try my gins neat first, to see the 'smoothness' and this is very smooth, it has a lovely oak flavouring along with the chardonnay and the usual botanicals you associate with gins. For me, this and Fever Tree light tonic was the best combination with a slice of lemon. My wife liked this so much, we are going to try the other barrel reserves '209' make because if they are as spectacular as this, we will be in gin heaven!
